I arrived home from work and was sitting at my living room window. I had been sitting for a while reading "
The Biggest Twitch" by Alan Davies and Ruth Miller and was quite surprised that nothing was coming to the bird feeders especially my window based one. Then I noticed a juvenile Sparrowhawk sitting on the ground with it's eyes closed and it's head twisted around on it's back. So I went out and picked it up remembering how Staffan Roos from Queen's University held a Sparrowhawk at a
BTO bird ringing course a few years back. I then took the following photos with my Iphone 4. It spent nearly half an hour with one of its eyes closed before before it flew off. It flew in a couple of circles round the house before settling in a tree where it remained until dark.
I have to say I have been very impressed with the quality of photograph for a phone.

Terrific snaps for a phone.
I didn't realise how brown a juv Sparrowhawk would be. Glad it was ok, great photos from the iphone4, better than my dslr!
the phones area quite good as long as you are close to the target. A nice bird. :)
Thank you for sharing
This fabulous work with us
Good creations
Hi Craig, reckon this chap hit the window, a common occurance with Sparrowhawk. Nice snaps all the same, keep up the blogging...
Good site. I love birds. I am from Malaysia and I am a postcards collector. Bird is one of the themes I have collected so far and still look for more. If anyone has birds postcards, just let me know. Do visit my blog http://projeksatudunia.blogspot.com
Best regards,
TJ
The Iphone4 is surprisingly good at capturing images. I use it, while my husband Robert has his pro photo gear, and it keeps me entertained, and often surprised with the quality. Love your blog, by the way, and thanks for listing Robert as one of your faves, too.
I love this photo. I think iphone 4 is better in DLSR. In iphone you can edit your picture using iphone photo apps from Itunes.
